Most guests use What We Experience as a calm home base in Panama City or Historic St. Andrews, then head to the beach for the day. It's a straightforward way to enjoy the beach without staying directly on the strip.
How to think about a beach day from our properties Our stays are in Panama City and Historic St. Andrews — not directly on the Gulf. The trade-off is honest: you give up beachfront, you get a real neighborhood, quiet streets, and stronger value. The actual beach is a short drive away — usually 15–25 minutes depending on traffic and which access point you pick. Where to access the beach - St. Andrews State Park — the most scenic option. Jetties, calm lagoon, full facilities. Day-use fee at the gate. Several public access points along Front Beach Road. - M.B. Miller County Pier Russell-Fields Pier — popular for sunset, fishing, and family photos. - Camp Helen State Park — quieter west end, near 30A. Worth the drive for a calmer day. - Are your properties on the beach?
- No, and we don't position them that way. Our stays are in Panama City and Historic St. Andrews — quieter neighborhoods with real local life, a short drive from the Gulf. You save on rates compared to beachfront rentals, and you still get the full beach experience as a day trip.
- Where's the best free public beach access?
- There are multiple public access points along Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach. St. Andrews State Park is paid but worth the fee for the jetties and facilities. Camp Helen State Park is also paid and quieter.
